Martial Blade Camp
Martial Blade Camp is the largest annual Martial Blade Concepts (MBC) training event. It is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to learn and refine core MBC and Counter-Blade Concepts (CBC) skills in a highly focused format. It also allows participants to meet and train with other edged-weapon and self-defense enthusiasts while exploring the skills of Michael Janich’s other personal-defense systems that are rarely taught in public.
The 17th Annual Martial Blade Camp will be held 6-8 September 2019 at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. It will present three full calendar days (approximately 36 hours) of instruction in all aspects of the MBC and CBC systems. The program of instruction will begin the morning of Friday, 6 September and conclude the evening of Sunday, 8 September. Students are not required to attend all training sessions.
The 2019 camp will build on the students’ fundamental knowledge to focus on hard-core skill development, practical street applications, and advanced training methodologies. It will also include specialized study groups on topics outside the scope of the MBC/CBC systems, including unarmed and improvised weapon tactics and other subjects of interest.
This event is specifically designed to enhance the skills of both advanced practitioners and novice participants. To maximize the benefits of the training, all participants should be familiar with the basic logic and fundamental concepts of MBC before attending. This may be done through the videos Martial Blade Concepts: Volumes 1 and 2, the fundamental lessons of the MBC Distance Learning program, or through participation in preliminary seminars with authorized MBC trainers.
Tuition for Martial Blade Camp is $700.00 and includes full participation in all training, a generous camp souvenir package (including an engraved commemorative knife, embroidered shirt, and other items), and eligibility for all prize giveaways during the event.
Lodging is not included in the price of camp tuition. Once officially registered for camp, participants will be provided with additional information and allowed to book rooms from a block of rooms at the YMCA’s Wind River Lodge specifically reserved for our group. All rooms include two queen-sized beds and may be booked for single or double occupancy. Participants who wish to share a room must make those arrangements themselves (we can provide access to the MBC Internet forum to help with this process).
Lodging at the Wind River Lodge includes all meals during the event.
Registration for the camp requires the completion of a liability waiver and a deposit of $300.00. The waiver may be downloaded here or you may request a copy by e-mailing

You may also return your waiver by mailing it with a personal check, cashier’s check, or money order for the $300.00 deposit made payable to “MBC LLC.” Please mail it to:

The deadline for registration is 1 June 2019. Your registration will be confirmed by e-mail upon receipt.
Payment of the balance of your camp tuition is due by 15 July 2019. The deadline for cancellations is 1 July 2019. If you register and cancel your registration after 1 July 2019, or if you fail to pay the balance of your tuition by 15 July 2019, your deposit will not be refunded.
Registration applications will be processed in the order in which they are received. Space is limited. Once the camp is full, a standby list will be compiled in the event of any cancellations.
